Our Story

East Dayton Christian Church is a place to be real and authentic. We are not people pretending to have it all together. We are broken, imperfect people who have experienced God’s love and mercy and try to live every day in gratitude of it. We’re a community of believers who cheer each other on and lift each other up. Just come as you are. God will meet you with acceptance, love and forgiveness. We hope that this introduction will give you some insight into who we are, and why we are here.

Our Mission
Connecting Christ and our Community

Our Vision

Our Vision is to see our community grow closer to God through fellowship, partnership, and discipleship.

Our Church

EDCC is a small church with a big faith! We love God first and acknowledge that each of us is broken in our own way and the only way to live in this world is by following Jesus.

EDCC is a place to be real and authentic. From our leadership to our church families, and congregation members, we admit we are broken imperfect people who have had the honor of receiving God’s grace and love. Our community believes in loving God first, and people second as we were commanded. We believe in accountability, encouraging each other, lifting each other up, guiding each other in nurturing relationship with God, and always presenting truth in love, the way God did for us.

In addition to our Sunday morning service, we branch out and find ways to fellowship, serve, and be involved in the East Dayton community. Be sure to check our calendar of events for more details.

We invite you to come and experience a God that loves you passionately, and a church ready to welcome you with open arms.

Our Beliefs

About God God is the creator of the universe. He has eternally existed (and will continue to exist for all time) in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are One. Genesis 1:1&26-27; 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14

About Jesus Christ Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is one with the Father and the Holy Spirit. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on the cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again someday to reign as King of Kings, and Lord of Lords. Matthew 1:22-23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5; 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14-15; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Romans 1:3-4; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:14-15; Titus 2:13

About the Holy Spirit The Holy Spirit is one with the Father and the Son of God. He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian person from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. He gives every believer a spiritual gift when they are saved. As Christians we seek to live under His guidance daily. 2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13; 14:16-17; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 2:12; 3:16; Ephesians 1:13; 5:18; Galatians 5:25

About the Bible The Bible is the inspired Word of God, written by human authors under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the final and only authority of truth and revelation for all Christian people. 2 Timothy 1:13; 3:16; Psalm 12:6; 119:105; 160; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Proverbs 30:5

About Sin We believe that all people are created in the image of God. Sin is a result of man's disobedience toward God. As a result of our sin, we have been separated from the perfect relationship with God that can only be made whole with salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6a; 59:1-2; Romans 3:23

About Salvation We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Salvation is God’s free gift (grace) to us but we must accept it by acknowledging Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior (confessing); turning from our sinful life-style (repentance); and trusting in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of our sins. Romans 5:1; 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 1:12; 14:6; Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26

About Baptism When we accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, we are commanded in the Bible to be baptized by immersion in order to receive forgiveness for our sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:37-39). The act of baptism does not ‘save’ us, rather it is done out of obedience to Jesus Christ. Baptism also illustrates how God cleanses us of our sins as well as how He raises us to new life in Jesus Christ. Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 1:9-11; Galatians 3:26-27; Acts 8:26-40; 9:17-19; 10:47-48; 16:15; 16:29-33

About Spiritual Gifts Every disciple of Jesus Christ has been given specific gifts and talents by the Holy Spirit to advance the kingdom of God. These gifts and talents are to be diligently developed and used at home, church, and in society. Romans 12:3-8; 1 Corinthians 12:1-11; Ephesians 4:11-13; Matthew 25:14-30

About Eternity We are created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or eternally with God through the forgiveness and salvation of Jesus Christ. To be eternally separated from God is called Hell. To be eternally in union with God is called Heaven. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence. Eternal life begins the moment we receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. John 3:16; 14:17; Romans 6:23; 8:17-18; Revelation 20:15; 21:27; 1 Corinthians 2:7-9; Matthew 25:41

About Truth Truth does not exist because we choose to believe in it. Truth is the way it is whether we believe it or not. Jesus is truth and so represents the way we are to live our lives. We believe that living this truth can be found in God's inspired word, The Bible. Living this way is not a religion but a freedom we embrace as we seek to follow Jesus. John 14:6

About Equality All persons are made in God’s image, and every disciple of Jesus Christ is to reflect that image. Jesus Christ came to restore not only our relationship with God—but also to bring restoration in our relationships with each other. In doing so, men and women of all races, ages, and classes can be restored through a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. Genesis 1:27, Galatians 3:26-29; Ephesians 2:11-22; John 17:20-26; Acts 10:9-23; Colossians 3:11-14

1

Join on Sundays

Every Sunday, we gather to learn more about the Bible, our God, and our family. Join us at 10:30a each Sunday to experience our worship service. You can also join us online any time. Both options are great for learning about Christ and His good news.

2

Join our Groups

Our Small groups are the heart of our church. Each week, volunteers come together to do small tasks or discuss Bible passages. Small groups are a great way to get to know new people without feeling too overwhelmed in large group settings.

3
